80 million for the new hospital Parkland
Officials at the hospital Parkland raised nearly $ 80 million in donations from the private sector to help build the new public hospital in Dallas and replace the current structure.

This is the most substantial figure who has achieved a fundraising campaign for a public entity in the country, hospital administrators said.

The philanthropists Annette and Harold Simmons and his family, will bring $ 50 million provided that the Parkland Foundation meets 100 million for the project over the next five years.

The foundation of Jan and Trevor Rees-Jones raised $ 25 million that are conditional on the approval of bond debt that will go to voters on November 4 to finance the new hospital. For taxpayers will be asked 747 million dollars of the nearly 1300 million dollars it costs to the project, or about 60 percent of the total.

Nearly 5 million dollars were collected by another small group of collaborators.

If approved in the election of next November, the hospital with 862 beds and includes a medical centre for outpatients, offices and parking lots, will open in 2014 on Harry Hines Blvd., In front of existing facilities.

Citizens contribute their taxes by 38 percent of the operating budget for 1000 Parkland million. The rest comes from Medicare, Medicaid and private health insurance.

Rees-Jones said that his commitment of $ 25 million with the new Parkland was to maintain the mission of its founding. It also represents the greatest gift of the foundation.

"We are interested in helping people less fortunate and who are suffering," he said. "Without Parkland, these people would be taken to other hospitals in the area."
