Obama regains advantage in the polls over McCain
The shift of focus towards the economy seems to have benefited the Democratic candidate, Barack Obama, who has picked up in the polls slight advantage that John McCain after he wrested the Republican Convention.

The daily index of the Gallup institute gave Obama a lead of four points, 48% vs. 44% of its rival, stressed Efe.

In this poll, McCain came to enjoy a distance of five percentage points after the close of the Republican Convention two weeks ago.

McCain also was encouraged by the good reception among the public to his selection for vice president, Sarah Palin, but the fascination aroused by the governor of Alaska seems overtaken by the bad economic news.

The daily index of the University of Quinnipiac also determines a four-point advantage for Obama, who receives 49% of the votes compared to 45% for McCain.

A third poll, prepared for the television network CBS and The New York Times, believes that the distance between the two candidates to the White House is five points. While Obama gets 49%, McCain with 44%.

On the other hand, trasacendió that hackers accessed the e-mail account of the Republican candidate for the vice presidency of the USA, and published some of its correspondence on the Internet, told DPA.

The hackers sent family photos to the Web site Wikileaks for access to the public.
