Lynette Clark, president of the Party of Independence Alasqueña (PIA), told the television channel ABC that Palin and Todd were militants of the organization in 1994.
But Gail Fenumiai, director of the Alaska Division of Elections, clarified that Todd Palin was the one who was registered twice in the PIA.
Some members of PIA propose the independence of Alaska, along with Hawaii, is not linked to the mainland United States.
